Jennifer Ashley not only witnessed the whole hippie movement, she lived it….hanging out as a young girl in the Haight Ashbury area of San Francisco with the likes of Timothy Leary, Bill Graham and members of Led Zepplin, Santana, Blood, Sweat & Tears and others. She continues to celebrate her youthful experiences as part of the carefree counterculture. Jennifer was first exposed to the fashion industry as a child when she visited her father at their family’s coat factory, which produced high-end girl’s coats. After working with the company seamstresses for several summers, she went on to study fabric design at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. Later, Jennifer studied to be an actress and appeared on television, national commercials and starred in over 20 feature films. She produced and hosted the hit cable show ASHLEY’S CLOSET which was rated cable televisions #1 talk show and was seen by over 3 million viewers since its inception. Her creative endeavors extended into art and she exhibited her works at major art shows across Southern California. From actress, to producer, to artist, Jennifer enjoyed tremendous success for over 18 years. In 2004, HIPPIE INK was started on a whim when Jennifer’s friends admired her hand-painted T-shirts. Once strangers began stopping her on the street to ask where they could get a T-shirt like hers, she realized that she had a skill and a product that people wanted. HIPPIE INK is now sold in over 1,000 stores across the country and has been worn by many celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox and Eva Longoria. Individually embellished or silk-screened on organic, vintage cotton Jennifer’s T-Shirt designs are emblazoned with rhinestones, studding and foiling with slogans such as “MAKE LOVE NOT WAR” and “PEACE OF MIND.” Her fashion philosophy is to be laid back, loving, tolerant, respectful, peaceful to ourselves, others and the environment. Touted as “the next Juicy Couture”, HIPPIE INK tees can be seen on television shows including Bravo’s TOP CHEF, MTV’s SHORT CIRCUTZ, TLC’s OVERHAULIN’, and CW’s THE GREG BEHRENDT SHOW. In early 2006, Jennifer announced the expansion of HIPPIE INK, adding distressed leather belts, fringed Hippie pouches, caps and hoodie sets. A health, fitness and nutrition advocate, she lives in Los Angeles with her husband Rick, two daughters and two dogs where they live and breathe HIPPIE INK.
